PWHS Means to Me: Page Six - Jay Boutwell
One of my earliest childhood memories is watching the weekly CWF broadcasts on Channel 6 here in Miami with my dad. I couldn't wait for the promos for each week's live show at Miami Beach Convention Center, knowing that I'd be there sitting ringside with my dad. Of course, CWF became a memory in 1987, and like most fans, I had little choice but to turn to cable TV for either GCW on the superstation, or whatever the WWF was doing. As I got older, and computers became more popular, I discovered the wealth of information on the Web. Old photos, videos and chat rooms devoted to Old School wrestling!...I was in heaven. Then I found Facebook, and found a great group run by a fellow CWF fan, Barry Rose. Looking at Barry's photos, I remembered him from Miami Beach. Like me, he was one of the kids who hung out by the dressing rooms, taking photos & collecting autographs. The memories came flooding back as I saw all the old programs & photos. Then I received an invitation to join the "Professional Wrestling Historical Society", which looked very inviting as it was devoted to pro wrestling's history. The members seemed to be a knowledgeable group, and I was able to learn about wrestlers & territories that I had only read about in the magazines, as well as being able to share my own memories & knowledge. Through my association with this group, I have met some great people, such as the founders & admins. I hope we can continue our mission of sharing the history of this great business for many years to come.
